Portrait of Virginia Kron by Donna Granata FOTM Portrait Series, 2011

The Ventura County Arts Council presents Celebrating Artists: An Intimate
Look: Part 2, Portraits by Donna Granata who has been photographing artists for the past two decades. The exhibition features artists who have lived or worked within Ventura County and illustrates the cultural abundance within our community. In addition, rare objects from the FOTM archives will be on display demonstrating the importance of the FOTM Resource Library and the amount of in-depth documentation involved with each artist photographed. Many of the artists featured in the portrait exhibition are exhibiting in the J. Paul Getty Museum's extensive Southern California initiative Pacific Standard Time. These artists include Beatrice Wood, Otto Heino, John White, Connie Jenkins, Linda Vallejo, Jack Reilly, Wayne Healy, George Yepes and Roland Reiss among many others.

Featuring over eighty works, Celebrating Artists: An Intimate Look: Part 2 is the largest exhibition ever mounted by one individual at the Ventura County Government Center and will span all three floors of the Hall of Administration. Many of the portraits on display have never been exhibited before.

Donna Granata will be available for a special Lunchtime Gallery Walkabout on Thursday, February 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The tour will feature short inspiring stories of the artists documented as well as "behind the scenes" anecdotes highlighting the challenges and rewards of creating the portraits and documenting the lives of the artists. The public is welcome to join the tour at any time during the Walkabout between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Gallery Walkabout is free.

Celebrating Artists: An Intimate Look: Part 2 is an expansion of the Thousand Oaks Hillcrest Center for the Arts exhibition Celebrating Artists: An Intimate Look on view through January 18, 2012.
