It’s time for Focus on the Masters to Focus on the Future! Focus on the Masters reached another milestone in its eleven-year history late last year when we received a generous gift from the Jessica and Stanley Prescott Trust. In addition to funding some ongoing projects, the agreement provided for the start of an endowment. As you well know, “struggling” is an adjective often used with “non profit”. Focus, like so many other organizations, needs to constantly raise money. We accomplish this in a variety of ways: the familiar fund appeal letters, membership campaigns, sponsorship opportunities, petitioning grants from foundations, corporations and the city, and fund-raising events. To ensure long-term success, we must establish and grow an endowment. Thanks to the Prescott Trust, we have now accomplished that first hurdle – establishment. We now begin the second and terribly important second phase – growing the endowment. Together, we are making history…. To Focus, history is not something old and dusty, relegated to the library shelf. History is ongoing. History is today from tomorrow’s perspective. Documenting and archiving the living history made by our artists is a project that stretches into the future. It is a project that will constantly require fund raising and judicious spending. Establishing an endowment tells us and tells you that we are serious about our work and determined to have Focus on the Masters outlive us. To find out how you can be part of making history,
