Christopher Trumbo
A conversation with Christopher Trumbo is a word lover’s dream encounter. It is quickly apparent that he loves words – their meanings, nuances, and history. This is but one of the legacies he received from his father, Dalton Trumbo. Chris grew up surrounded by writers -- writers under attack, a good many of them, by their own colleagues as well as members of the House Un-American Activities Committee during the infamous days of the “Blacklist”. Deciding to become a writer was really a bow to the inevitable, an embrace of the familiar. His career has taken him to film, television and to the stage with his play “Trumbo”, a fond, insightful tribute to his father which has been made into a feature film. A line from that play is especially meaningful to Focus on the Masters: “… he would wish for you one fight – one passion, one hope, one cause, one idea that animates your soul and takes you places you never dreamed of.”
