Bill Viola

Bill Viola is internationally recognized as one of today’s leading artists.  He was recently named a 2011 Praemium Imperiale Laureate, one of the world’s most prestigious art awards.  His current project, two permanent installations commissioned by St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, deals with the life cycle of the Virgin Mary, a segment of which was filmed in Ojai, CA.  Of his work Bill says:  “When you’re dealing with media as opposed to painting and sculpture, you’re really dealing with something that has to find its eternity in a different way.  It’s a moving target, an active and evolving technology.”
